PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel compound, useful for dyeing or textile printing, yellow or orange, a natural or synthetic fibrous material containing hydroxyl group or nitrogen, and good in light durability, solubility and textile printing paste stability. SOLUTION: This compound is a diazonium compound shown by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-8C alkyl, group-NH-CO-C1-C4 alkyl or the like; R3 is H, a 1-8C alkyl or the like; R4 is H, a halogen or 1-8C alkyl; X is a group-CO, group-COO or group-SO2; and (n) is 1 or 2], e.g. a compound shown by formula II. The compound shown by formula I is obtained by diazotizing a compound shown by formula III (e.g. 4-aminoacetoanilide-2-sulfonate) in an acidic range, and reacting the product with a compound shown by formula IV (e.g. 4-tert-butylphenol) and aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, preferably at a pH 8-12. The aqueous dye solution contains the dye preferably at 5 to 50 wt.%.
