PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust collecting hood above a hot dip galvanizing bath capable of more efficiently absorbing zinc powder, etc., than heretofore. SOLUTION: The aperture 3 of the dust collecting hood 2 which covers above a pair of support rolls for supporting a steel strip by coming into contact with both surfaces of the steel strip pulled up from a hot dip galvanizing bath and has the aperture to suck the zinc powder and zinc fumes splashing near the support rolls satisfies the following conditions: 5 mm<=D<=40 mm, 0.5 mm<=L<=40 mm, further preferably 5<=D<=25 mm, 0.5 mm<=L<=10 mm. Where, D is a horizontal spacing between the steel strip side end E of the aperture and the front surface of the steel strip and L is the distance from E to the surface of the support roll of a straight line connecting the central axis C of the support roll and E.
