PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject mold clamping device, simple in structure, low in equipment cost, capable of reduced in running cost, excellent in workability and capable of obtaining stable mold clamping force. SOLUTION: A mold clamping device is equipped with a fixed mold 23 fixed in opposed relation to the injection nozzle 21 of an injection molding machine 20, a movable mold 4 arranged so as to freely advance and retreat with respect to the fixed mold and a cam type advance and retreat mechanism 7 for allowing the movable mold 4 to advance and retreat with respect to the fixed mold 3. The cam type advance and retreat mechanism 7 is equipped with the moving frame 5 fixed to one end of the movable mold 4, the advance cam follower 8 and retreat cam follower 9 arranged to the opposed front and rear frames 5a, 5c in the moving frame 5 and the advance eccentric cam 12 and retreat eccentric cam 13 rotated by an electromotor 32 through a common rotary shaft 10.
