PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper cup collapsing machine which can surely collapse a paper cup or the like by a compact device. SOLUTION: In this paper cup collapsing machine, when a paper cup C is detected by a detecting means, the bottom part CB of the paper cup C is caught by edge parts 51La, 51Ra of a first notch part provided in collapsing rollers 4L, 4R rotationally driven via a gear train by a geared motor by a controller and is held and collapsed by collapsing parts 44L, 44R of the collapsing rollers 4L, 4R energized in the approaching direction by an energizing means. The paper cup which is not caught by the first notch part is caught by a second notch part. In such a case, a large paper cup incapable of collapsing is easily passed through between the collapsing rollers 4L, 4R by weakening the energizing force with an energizing force adjusting means. Thus, the paper cup C is collapsed, and its volume is reduced.
