PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fixedly hold each sheet metal having no reference hole, but having a wide variety of dimensions at a prescribed position over a table in a sheet metal supporting device. SOLUTION: This sheet metal supporting device 10 is equipped with a first and a second guides 32 and 34 parted in parallel so as to be extended in an X direction, an adjusting mechanism permitting those guides 32 and 34 to be relatively moved in order to adjust each interval between them, and with an action mechanism permitting an adjusted interval between the first and second guides 32 and 34 to be contracted by a prescribed quantity. The action mechanism is formed of plural cam devices 46 provided in the second guide 34, and of a driving device 48 for driving the cam devices 46 independently from the X axis and Y axis driving sources 26 and 28 of the table 14, and from the Y1 axis driving source 40 of the second guide 34. And the cam devices 46 permit the guide part 44 of the second guide 34 the interval of which has been adjusted, to be displaced in the Y1 direction with respect to a base part 42, so that a sheet metal is fixedly held between both the guides 32 and 34 under pressure.
