PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly suppress the propagation of bacteria in water remaining in a filter material or residual water in a main body over a long period of time, in a water treatment apparatus equipped with a filter material, by providing a means for supplying silver ions on the upstream side of the filter material. SOLUTION: Tap water or the like is supplied to a water purifying cartridge 10 from an upstream side and purified by the filter material such as activated carbon housed in the cartridge to be discharged to a downstream side. Herein, a silver ion adding cylinder 1 is provided on the upstream side of the water purifying cartridge 10 and silver ions are added to the supplied water to suppress the propagation of bacteria in residual water. A flow rate counter 5 is arranged to a flow passage of supplied water and a flow rate cumulated value is calculated on the basis of the flow rate from the flow rate counter 5 by a supply control device 3 and, when this value reaches a predetermined value, a signal is sent to a notice device 4 to notify a user of the replacing period of the silver ion adding cylinder 1. Further, a timer 6 is provided to the supply control device 3 and the replacing period of the silver ion adding cylinder may be judged on the basis of the clocking result of the timer.
