PURPOSE: A method for guiding a point for renewing a ribbon of a dot printer is provided to timely renew a ribbon by automatically reporting the point for renewing the ribbon to a user. CONSTITUTION: In a dot printer having a home sensor for sensing a head printing by blowing a ribbon and a head located at a right location, a method for guiding a point for renewing a ribbon of the dot printer includes the steps of counting the frequency that the heads are sensed by the home sensor(S12), determining whether the counted numerical value exceeds a preliminarily determined numerical value(S14), and outputting a message for renewing the ribbon to a paper or a screen if the counted numerical value exceeds a preliminarily determined numerical value(S18).
