PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compact a fundamental length of a front fork by releasing oil in a lower oil reserving chamber side to an upper oil reserving chamber, while making the lower oil reserving chamber communicate with the upper oil reserving chamber via a passage, when a free piston moves a fixed stroke or more stroked more, on the sliding surface of the free piston. SOLUTION: A free piston 60 is housed in an oil reserving chamber 34 freely slidable vertically, and the oil reserving chamber 34 is partitioned into an upper oil reserving chamber 34A and a lower oil reserving chamber 34B by the free piston 60. A release passage 63 for communicating a lower oil reserving chamber 34B with the upper oil reserving chamber 34A is disposed on a portion, where the free piston 60 is positioned when a front fork 10 is compressed to the maximum level, and at an outer peripheral surface of a damper cylinder 21 with which the free piston 60 is brought into slide-contact. Oil in the lower oil reserving chamber 34B is released from the release passage 63 to the upper oil reserving chamber 34A, when the free piston 60 is stroked for a constant level or higher.
