PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pressure loss by preventing a fluid in a gas/liquid separation section from colliding a wall surface, and bring a space capacity of the gas/ liquid separator into compact by eliminating the need of a function of a large amount of liquid staying in the gas/liquid separation section. SOLUTION: A gas/liquid separator 10 is adapted such that it includes an inflow hole 1 disposed at a lateral one end side of a gas/liquid separation section 2 consisting of a closed container, directed to permit a fluid in a gas/liquid binary state substantially horizontally, and a liquid flow outlet 4 on the other end of the gas/liquid separation section 2 located substantially horizontally with respect to the flow inlet, and further flow rate setting means 10a for setting a flow rate of gas 6 to be 10 m/sec or lower and a flow rate of liquid 5 to be 0.2 m/sec or less in the gas/liquid separation section 2.
