PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately compensate image density and to stably maintain the image density at the same time. SOLUTION: In this device, at the time of a standard image formation, voltage impressed between an image carrier and a developer carrier is switched over to DC voltage (Step S2), the standard image is formed by impressing the DC voltage (Steps S1 to S3) and any minute variation in the image density due to material change, etc., in developer such as change in toner density owing to environmental change, etc., is conspicuously expressed as a variation in the image density of the standard image. Thus, detection of any minute variation in the image density can be carried out with ease and accuracy by an image density detecting means and the image density can be appropriately compensated based on this. |
