PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a piezoelectric actuator, and at the same time to increase the output of the actuator. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric actuator is composed of a vibrating body 4 constituting of first and second vibrating sections 14 and 15, first and second piezoelectric bodies 16 and 17, and a fixed end 18 and a moving body 8 which is driven in such a way that the body 8 is brought into contact with the vibrating body 4. When a drive signal is inputted to the first piezoelectric body 16, the body 16 is strained and the second vibrating section 15 vibrates in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the moving body 8. Consequently, the front end section of the vibrating body 4 makes elliptical motions which are the combined results of the first and second vibrating sections 14 and 15 and causes the moving body 8 to move. Therefore, the actuator can be made to generate a large stable output, not only in the direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the moving body 8 but also in the moving direction of the body 8. |
