PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device capable of improving light emitting efficiency of a plasma display panel and reducing interference between adjacent discharge cells. SOLUTION: This plasma display device is provided with a plasma display panel comprising a first substrate 1, a second substrate 2, first and second electrodes provided on the first substrate 1, a phosphor layer 12 provided on the second substrate 2, and a third electrode provided on a lower side of the phosphor layer 12 and on the second substrate 2. The plasma display panel includes a first part positioned in a region including the third electrode in a part of the phosphor layer 12 of zero in thickness or thinner than other part, and the first part is for starting discharge first when generating discharge between the first electrode and the third electrode.
