PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter that can be manufactured even without a transmission control LSI which realizes a required transmission system and to provide a transmission system that employs it. SOLUTION: Transmission control circuit information for a transmission system stored in a ROM 20 is set to a rewritable logic circuit 19 via a signal line 21 at application of power to the transmitter. Thus, information is sent/ received between a transceiver 2 and a transmission line 1 according to the transmission system that is set as above and the rewritable logic circuit 19 stores the received information. The transmitter exchanges information with an external device through an external device interface means. Through the configuration above, the transmitter can be manufactured even without a transmission control LSI which realizes a required transmission system.
