An immunophilin ligand such as an immunosuppressive or non-immunosuppressive pipecolic acid derivative excluding FK506 or rapamycin is used in the manufacture of a medicament to promote neuronal growth and regeneration in a neuropathological condition where neuronal repair can be facilitated.
