摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture having higher picture quality to a user without incurring the reduction of luminance by flickering fluorescent lamps at high speed in synchronization with a scanning signal using a plurality of direct-under type fluorescent lamps as back lights. SOLUTION: Four direct-under type fluorescent lamps 110 are arranged at the back of an array substrate 101 as back lights. Respective lamps 110 are connected to a lamp driving circuit 111 and a driving voltage control circuit 112 flickering the lamps 110 in synchronism with the scanning signal of a panel and they are controlled by the circuits. Then, only roughly one fourth of the normal state of the panel can be lighted per one frame by lighting only one of the lamp 110 after a video signal is written on the panel. As a result, the display state of the panel can be brought near the display state of the impulse type drive of a CRT from the display state of the hold type drive of liquid crystal and when the displaying of a moving picture is performed in this panel, the video signal of one frame before is not recognized and the reduction of the display quality of the moving picture due to edge blurs can be prevented.
