The boot for downhill skiing has a rigid under-frame (11) below the wearers ankle and two connecting links (30,31) between this and the two shells (14,15) fitted on the users leg. The under-frame has a front housing (18) and rear housing (19), to receive a soft inner boot (12), and shoulders (17,17') which allow the shoe to be fixed to a conventional binding.
