PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability for magnetic tape file input. SOLUTION: In a magnetic tape device 2, a data block where a read error has occurred in a magnetic tape device 1 is copied to and preserved in a storage device 15 like a magnetic disk device, and these preserved contents are used to avoid impossibility of reproducing when the data block is reproduced hereafter, thus shortening the retry operation time for error recovery to improve the performance.
