PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in jitters without increasing laser power when subjecting a phase transition type optical recording medium to overwriting at a high linear speed. SOLUTION: This optical recording system uses a pulse train having at least one unit pulses consisting of an upwardly facing pulse and a downwardly facing pulse succeeding thereto as a recording waveform for optical beam modulation. When the values obtained by standardizing the upwardly facing pulse width and downwardly facing pulse width of the i-th unit pulse in the pulse train of (n) (where (n) >=4) in the number of the unit pulses respectively by a reference clock width are expressed as T(i)H and T(i)L, T(2)H to T(n-1)H= TmpH and T(2)L to T(n-2)L=TmpL are set. In the first embodiment, 0<T(1)L< TmpL is set, in the second embodiments, 0<=T(n)L<TmpL and TmpH<T (n)H<=TmpH+0.3 are set and in the third embodiments, 0<=T(n)L<TmpL and 0.1<=T(n-1)L<TmpL are set. |
