PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an observer to view a stereoscopic image, viewed from the circumference of a display object, from the same point without moving by a volume scanning method which makes good use of the afterimage effect of the eye of the human. SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display device 100 is provided with a DMD(digital micromirror device) 33 which generates a sectional image to be projected on a screen 38 and two-dimensional image data corresponding to the angle of rotation of the screen 38 are supplied to the DMD 33. The two-dimensional image data supplied to the DMD 33 are stored in a memory 63. Then a series of sectional images needed to display a stereoscopic image of the display object is repeatedly generated in synchronism with the rotation of the screen 38. The timing of the generation of the series of sectional image is adjusted temporarily or continuously to direct the stereoscopic image to an arbitrary direction. |
