The receiving terminal has access to a translation computer to ensure that un-readable format documents can be translated into locally readable format. The electronic message stored in a computer messaging server (21) contains data which is un-readable by the terminal (15). The terminal connects itself to the computer network (100), and opens a communication session with the messaging server (21). It then remotely loads the message and detects the un-readable data. In the course of the same connection to the computer network (100), the terminal opens another communication session with a translation server (30), to which it then submits the un-readable data in order to obtain a translation.
