PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver for a 5-phase stepping motor for making rotation accuracy of a rotor uniform by alleviating unevenness in the rotating speed of the rotor, when adopting a half-step drive by using the motor having a pentagon connection. SOLUTION: In this 5-phase stepping motor, phase windings of a phase A to a phase E are sequentially connected as a pentagonal connection, and transistor elements T1 to T10 are respectively connected to connecting points S1, S3, S5, S7 and S9 of the windings of the phase A to the phase E. A driver 1 enables half-step control to sequentially switch 4-phase exciting and 5-phase exciting by controlling so as to switch on and off of the elements T1 to T10. When the driver 1 switches from the 5-phase excitation to the 4-phase excitation, a regenerative current flowing to the winding of a phase C connected to the element T5 newly becoming on can be rapidly attenuated by raising the current attenuation ratio, by turning the point S5 into a higher state of the potential. |
