PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device reduced in cost, excellent in maintenability and capable of obtaining a fixed image, which is excellent in fixing strength and reduced in image gloss, without supplying releasing agent such as oil to a fixing roller in the fixing device used for an electrostatic recording type image forming device such as a copying machine, a facsimile equipment or a printer. SOLUTION: A non-contact heat supply means 14 is arranged at the upstream side of the fixing roller 1 in the carrying direction of transfer paper and the temperature thereof is controlled so as to become equal to over such temperature that toner 7 on the transfer paper 6 becomes a rubber-like area. Besides, the surface temperature of the roller 1 is controlled so as to become equal to or under such temperature that the toner 7 on the paper 6 becomes the rubber-like area. Thus, the fixed image, which is excellent in the fixing strength and reduced in image gloss, is obtained by inexpensive configuration.
