PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting method, for Helicobacter pyolri infection, which does not require endoscopy, which is simple, whose accuracy is high, which is low-cost and which can perform not only a screening operation but also the diagnosis of a treatment effect and to provide a kit for its detection. SOLUTION: The exhalation of a subject is guided into a water-based liquid for ammonia substitution, and ammonia which is substituted into the water-based liquid from the exhalation is analyzed. This kit for detection contains (1) a water-based liquid for ammonia substitution, (2) a means by which the exhalation of a subject is guided to the water-based liquid for ammonia substitution and (3) a reagent for ammonia substitution.
