PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the visibility on a road surface in front of a vehicle, by a headlight for a vehicle having a plain-glass front lens with relief formed on an inner surface thereof. SOLUTION: Three relief parts 16b1, 16b2, 16b3 are formed on an inner surface 16a of a plain-glass front lens 16 so as to horizontally extend substantially at regular vertical intervals, and the lowest relief part 16b3 is positioned below an optical axis Ax. An upper proximity region 16A1 of the relief part 16b3 on the front lens 16 is formed into the shape of a downward-diffusing polarization prism while a lower proximity region 16A2 of the relief part 16b3 is formed into the shape of an upward-diffusing polarization prism. The shadow of the relief part 16b3, conventionally formed to laterally extend in a belt-like shape on a road surface in front of a vehicle by the direct light from a light- source bulb 12, is vanished by downward-polarized light from the upper proximity region 16A1 and upward-polarized light from the lower proximity region 16A2, thus preventing the unevenness of light from being produced on the road surface in front of the vehicle. |
