发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL OPTICAL DEVICE HAVING REVERSE MODE OPTICAL SWITCHING FUNCTION AND ITS PRODUCTION
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce an optical switching liquid crystal optical device in a reverse mode having fast responsiveness and high contrast, at a low cost by injecting the component material for a composite film with a silane coupling agent in a composite film housing cell by a flowing and aligning method and then photopolymerizing the material. SOLUTION: An anisotropic liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant, photopolymerizable monomers, a silane coupling agent and a photopolymnerization initiator are mixed. In this case, these materials are combined in such a manner that the refractive index np of the photopolymerizable monomers and the refractive index no for ordinary light of the anisotropic liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant are substantially equal to each other, that the difference between np and the refractive index ne for extraordinary light of the liquid crystal is as small as possible, and that the differenceΔn (double refraction) between ne and no of the liquid crystal is as large as possible. Then the mixture solution is injected at room temperature into a composite film housing cell by a flowing and aligning method. Then the mixture injected in the cell is irradiated with light to polymerize the photopolymerizable monomers. Thus, a uniform transparent state can be formed in the cell.
