PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately dispose support members at predetermined positions inside an apparatus by preventing any positional deviation of the support member during heat treatment in an image display apparatus. SOLUTION: In an image display apparatus, a vacuum envelope is configured such that a back base plate 11 and a front base plate 12 are disposed opposite to each other, which are surrounded by a side wall 13, and further, support members 21 are interposed between the back base plate 11 and the front base plate 12. The support member 21 includes a magnetic layer 23. The support member 21 can be prevented from being positionally deviated during heat treatment by allowing a magnetic field to act on the magnetic layer 23 from the outside of the vacuum envelope. Numerous electron emitting elements 20 are formed on the back base plate 11 in a manner opposite to the front base plate 12. A phosphor screen 14 is formed on the front base plate 12 in a manner opposite to the back base plate 11. The phosphor screen 14 emits light with an electron beam emitted from the electron emitting element 20.
