PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fast perform similarity calculation of a model and an object with high accurately. SOLUTION: Contour points are obtained by equally dividing a contour line of an object image, the contour points are subjected to polar coordinate conversion and subsequently wavelet transformation is performed in a step S5. Then, a similarity calculation corresponding to a low frequency component is performed by a wavelet descriptor, and subsequently a highly accurate similarity calculation corresponding to a high frequency component is performed again only for contour points having a high degree of coincidence.
