PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for picture storing control which ensures a stable reading speed and is reduced in the influence of a reading error. SOLUTION: A hard disk 10 of a picture data storing memory is set to report an error sector number without re-reading at the time of the occurrence of a sector reading error, and data to be stored in made to be the data block form of sector unit consisting of sector information and compressing code. When an error is detected by a sector error detecting part 23 with respect to reading by a sector reading part 20, error information is generated by the part 32 from the error sector number, etc., and based on this error information, a sector error interpolating part 40 executes interpolating processing of picture data. Thus, a stable reading speed is compatible with the reduction of the influence of the reading error.
