摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure writing when the writing period is shortened by setting the electric charge quantities formed between data electrodes and scanning electrodes during the writing period to different values of the same polarity between luminescent cells and nonluminescent cells. SOLUTION: Pulses 100, 101, 103 are applied to data electrodes during the period when pulses 110, 111, 113 are applied to scanning electrodes of non- writing cells. These pulses 100, 101, 103 are shorter in width than the pulses applied to the data electrodes at the time of writing. Pulses 102 with a long pulse width are applied to writing cells for writing in the period when pulses 112 are applied to the scanning electrodes as before. Since the said voltage is applied to nonluminescent cells during the writing period, the electric charge quantities formed between the data electrodes and scanning electrodes are set to different values of the same polarity between luminescent cells and nonluminescent cells.
