PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to refer to a document file in the state of unconsciously relating a text and a drawing through display of corresponding chart or table by providing a means for turning the expression of the chart or table in document data into selected state by using an input device while the document file is displayed on a display device. SOLUTION: When a requested document file exists in an external storage device 15 or CDROM device 16, the document file is dispatched to a document retrieval program 102. The word expression of 'chart' or 'table' in a document is retrieved by the document retrieval program 102 and document data are dispatched to a document display program 101 in the state of linking the word expression of 'chart' or 'table' and real drawing data by a program 103 for linking the document and the drawing. The document display program 101 displays a document display window and a drawing display window on an output device 14.
