PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel and a manufacturing method thereof capable of preventing generation of foreign material in a metal auxiliary electrode and discoloration of a dielectric layer. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel includes a protecting film for covering a metal auxiliary electrode 3, and the metal auxiliary electrode 3 does not contact with a dielectric. Thus generation of foam shaped foreign material in the metal auxiliary electrode 3 and discoloration of the dielectric layer are prevented. Therefore, a necessary driving voltage is securely applied and degradation of brightness caused by degradation of transparency of the dielectric layer is prevented.
