PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tube enlarging apparatus and a tube position detecting method in which cost can be reduced while ensuring the quality by enhancing productivity through automation. SOLUTION: The tube enlarging apparatus, i.e., an automatic tube enlarging apparatus 5, comprises a tube enlarging had 10 disposed movably in the Y-axis direction on a table 9 movable up and down in the X-axis direction with respect to a body frame 8, a CCD camera 11, an adhesive coater 12 and an expander 13 are mounted laterally in a row on the tube enlarging head 10, and a lubricant coater disposed contiguous to the expander 13. The CCD camera 11, the adhesive coater 12 and the expander 13 are arranged such that they can move on the tube enlarging head 10 in the Z-axis direction. The lubricant coater 14 is secured and lubricant is applied automatically, at a predetermined timing, from the coating section thereof to the pressing part at the forward end of the expander 13.
