PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient AV data recording and reproducing device with which the contents of all programs recorded in a recording tape is instantly grasped and retrieved by outputting it in multi-screen as moving images and to provide a medium for recording program. SOLUTION: Quick access to program searching of a video-recorded program and the intuitive and comprehensive grasping of video-recorded contents are realized by using a digital bit stream recording and reproducing device 10 which records sample video corresponding to the program of a recording tape in a VTR 2 through the use of an HDD 3 to display all the sample images on one screen by a multi-screen display part 6.
