PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money discriminating device capable of accurately detecting an unacceptable paper money such as paper money of different denomination or forged paper money and discriminating whether paper moneys are sucked one by one or not. SOLUTION: This device is provided with plural suction pipes 2 having suction ports, a light source 20 for emitting light toward the paper money sucked into the suction port, a color sensor 21 for generating the time sequential color data of the paper money by photoelectrically detecting light transmitted through the paper money, an arithmetic circuit for generating time sequential color data patterns corresponding to R, G and B of the paper money sucked into the suction port, a ROM for storing time sequential reference color data patterns corresponding to R, G and B of respective denominations of paper moneys to be counted and a discrimination means for discriminating the paper money by comparing the time sequential color data pattern of the paper money with the reference color data pattern. |
