PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical filter with a suitable color correcting function by utilizing dye which is an associated body composed of an anionic dye and a multivalent cation. SOLUTION: An optical filter provided with an antireflection layer has a construction of which filter layer 2 is provided on the side of a transparent supporting body 1 opposite to the reflection preventing layer. The filter layer 2 contains dye and a polymer binder and an associated body composed of an anionic dye and a multivalent cation is used as the dye. The anionic dye is the dye having at least an anionic group in its molecule and still more, the dye optionally has a cationic group. The associated body of the anionic dye and the multivalent cation is added to a coating liquid of the filter layer 2, provided it is preferable to add a salt of the anionic dye with a monovalent cation and a salt of the multivalent cation with an anion to the coating liquid of the filter layer 2 so as to form the associated body of the anionic dye and the multivalent cation in the coating liquid. A multivalent metal ion or a multivalent organic cation is used as the multivalent cation.
