METHOD FOR DETECTING CUTTING OF POWER CABLE SHIELDING CONDUCTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect the cutting of a shielding conductor in the conduction state of a power cable without requiring any special measuring instrument by measuring the induction current of each phase grounding wire due to the load current of the power cable and detecting the cutting of the shielding conductor. SOLUTION: For example, in an underground buried power cable CT where a shielding conductor 2T has been cut between points A and B, the measurement value of current at grounding wires 3TA and 3TB of the points A and B differs from that of grounding wires 3RA, 3RB, 3SA, and 3SB of normal underground power cables CR and CS where the shielding conductors 2R and 2S have not been cut. Therefore, by measuring the current of the grounding wires 3RA-3RC, 3SA-3SC, and 3TA-3TC with an ammeter, the presence or absence of the cutting of the shielding conductors 2R, 2S, and 2T can be detected, thus easily detecting the cutting of the shielding conductors in the conduction state of the power cable without using any special measuring instrument.
