PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically produce a storage medium and to improve the usability by selecting a program to be viewed according to screen information generated by compositing program information and outputting a control signal for controlling the reproducing device for the storage medium. SOLUTION: The reproducing device for the storage medium comprises a drive device 10 which reproduces the storage medium, a converting circuit 20 which converts a format of a signal, a modulating circuit 30, an authenticating circuit 40, an input terminal 50 for digital broadcast, an exchanging circuit 60, a multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit 70, a modem circuit 80, a microcomputer 90, an interface circuit 100, input/output terminals 110 and 120 for a digital video signal, and a reproducing device 130. The drive device 10 built in the reproducing device 130 multiplexes a video signal compressed in an MPEG2 format and a properly compressed audio signal into the format prescribed by the MPEG2 system and records them according to the format of each storage medium.
