PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly reliably record and output an image by adaptively controlling the sheet number of recording output such as the number of stapling sheets and the number of outputting sheets to a tray in accordance with the thickness of recording paper in use and also effectively utilizing the resource and performance of a device without causing jamming or the like. SOLUTION: A recording paper thickness detecting circuit 34 detecting that the thickness of a recording paper bundle mounted at the paper feeding mechanism of a recording circuit 16 is set to be equal to or shorter than a specified length is provided, and the number of the recording paper recorded and outputted until the paper feeding mechanism of the recording circuit 16 becomes empty and the thickness of the recording paper mounted at the paper feeding mechanism through the ratio of the sheet number of a standard recording paper bundle covering the specified length are measured after the thickness of the recording paper bundle becomes equal to or shorter than the specified length, and the sheet number of the recording paper outputted by the recording circuit 16 such as the maximum number of the stapling sheets stapled by the stapler of the recording circuit 16 at once or the maximum number of tray-output sheets of the recording paper outputted to the trays 30 and 32 is controlled by using the ratio. |
