PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which enables a user to retrieve a program through the use of program information without disturbing watching/ listening of the program of television broadcasting. SOLUTION: In this television receiver, based on program information extracted from the video signal of CH received by a tuner 3, a program table calling part 8 calls all program table data, a partial program table data calling part 9 calls partial program table data and a selected CH program table data calling part 12 calls selected program table data. A program table plotting control part 14 outputs one of the program table data to a display part 16 in accordance with the instruction of a user. A video plotting control part 15 inputs a video signal from an AV decoder part 5 to give previously fixed processing and outputs it to the part 16, which displays video and a program table. When the part 14 outputs a part or selected program table data at this time, the part 15 compresses the video signal in a vertical direction so as to insert the program table in the state of a belt at the lowest part of a screen and outputs it to the part 16.
