PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic impedance type reproducing element having a simple structure by supplying a high frequency current to a metal soft magnetic film through conductors which are electrically connected to both ends of the metal soft magnetic film interposed with nonmagnetic insulating films on both faces and taking out voltage caused by current as the output. SOLUTION: The main magnetic pole core 2 is a metal soft magnetic film consisting of a NiFe alloy single layer thin film and is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 100 by sputtering. Nonmagnetic insulating films 1a, 1b are formed by sputtering SiO2 on both faces of the main magnetic pole core 2 for insulation. Conductors 3a, 3b are copper thin film conductors formed by vapor deposition or sputtering by using a proper mask on the inclined side faces of the main magnetic pole core 2 having a trapezoid cross section. An AC current is supplied from a high frequency power supply 6 through a resistance R to the conductors 3a, 3b through conductor lines 9a, 9b and terminals 5a, 5b. The change in the impedance of the main magnetic pole core 2 are detected through other conductor lines 4a, 4b.
