PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy of measurement by preventing saturation of output signal even when the charge storing time of a one-dimensional photosensor is prolonged. SOLUTION: The spectrometer 10 comprises a grating mirror 52, a line sensor 56, a liquid crystal shutter 12, and a control section 14. The grating mirror 52 splits an incident light P1 into spectral lights P2 of respective wavelengths. The line sensor 56 comprises a large number of light receiving elements 54 for receiving the spectral lights P2 split through the grating mirror 52, respectively. The liquid crystal shutter 12 comprises a large number of segments 16 having individually variable light transmittance and it is disposed at a position for intercepting the spectral lights P2. The control section 14 controls light transmittance of each segment 16 such that the output signal levels of respective light receiving elements 54 are distributed as specified.
