PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image reception system which receives images of three color planes with the full resolution of a sensor and uses only one sensor. SOLUTION: The system which receives field progressive color images receives a scene by an optical image receiving device by frames at frame intervals and generates many 1st color components by an active color filter 84. The scene is detected by a single monochromatic area sensor 90 and divided into many 2nd color components by an array field selector 92. The color components are stored in multiple memory locations, the 2nd color components which are stored are combined by a field frame coupler 118 into one frame image, and a color reproducing processor 120 processes the color reproduction and format of the colors of the frame image.
