PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system and a method for accurately and economically testing, calibrating, and monitoring the performance of an optical switch. SOLUTION: The optical switch 70 includes multiple crossing optical paths 14, 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 32, multiple intersection switch elements 12, multiple 2nd type optical switch points 55 constituting a test row 60 and a test column 50 which are constituted by arranging the intersection switch elements on 2nd sides of the intersections of two optical paths and added to a core matrix 11, and a test input 56 and a test output 57 which are optically coupled with the test row and test column.
