A MARKET OPERATING SYSTEM

A market operating system for confirming the details of trades already agreed between a buyer and a seller. The system comprises an electronic controller (12) that is adapted to communicate via a communication network (11) with a seller terminal (10) and a buyer terminal (10). Included in the electronic controller (11) is a register of market members (31) and a memory that includes a plurality of contract terms, the contract terms being selectively retrievable by a market member from the seller terminal (10). When confirmation is required, terms selected by the seller are imported into an agreement that is to represent the agreed trade. The agreement is then stored and a message is forwarded to the buyer terminal (10) as notification of the presence of the agreement. The buyer is then allowed access to the agreement entered by the seller. Once the buyer has reviewed the terms, the agreement can either be accepted or rejected.
