This invention is an apparatus (300) for accurately infusing medicinal agents into an ambulatory patient at specific rates over extended periods of time. The apparatus (300) is of a compact, low profile, laminate construction, includes an elastic distent membrane (316), and a chamber having a fluid outlet (380). Disposed within the fluid chamber (346) is a thin fluid permeable member which precisely controls the rate of fluid flow through the fluid outlet (380). The apparatus (300) also includes a highly novel medicament dose dialing feature (362) that allows the user to dial in the approximate dose to be delivered to the patient. Additionally, the apparatus (300) includes a fill assembly (324) comprising a field fill vial (338) that can be readily filled in the field.
