The brake unit has an outer brake beam(14) which at the same time forms a wheel guide. The outer brake beam in relation to the upper edge of the running rail is located higher than the inner brake beam(12). The outer brake beam has a guide unit for an overrun wheel(18) and which may be in the form of a flange groove which may be formed by an angle piece on the upper side of the outer brake beam or an open recess extending in the longitudinal direction of the brake beam upwards and in the direction of the wheel.
