VORTEX COOLED LAMP BOX FOR FIBER OPTIC ILLUMINATION SYSTEMS

An improved light box (1) for fiber optic lighting systems includes a chamber (13) that creates a high velocity, high pressure vortex cooling air flow that impinges upon the light collecting end of the fiber optic cable (12). The vortex flow of cooling air provides a highly efficient and quiet cooling system for elements of the light box (1). The light box (1) may be used in combination with end-emitting or laterally light-emitting fiber optic cables.
