A bearing (4) is set upright on a substrate (1) to hold an entire shaft (6) except both ends. A rotor case (10) comprises a rotor base (11) arranged under an optical pickup (13) and having a magnet (9) inside, and a rotor boss (12) connected fixedly on the rotor base (11) in such a manner that its side is opposed to the side of the optical pickup (13). In such a simple and small structure, the axis of the shaft (6) can be correctly maintained. The manufacturing costs can be considerably reduced by using parts (1, 2, 5, 9, 11) that are compatible with other thin motors.
