A suspension system for cars with a level control unit to adjust a specified height of the vehicle body consists of at least one piston-cylinder aggregate provided with a working cylinder, a piston rod and a damping piston having a damping valve, a pump of an oil reservoir plus at least one height sensor as well as corresponding supply and drain lines from the oil reservoir to the piston-cylinder aggregate and vice versa. The piston-cylinder aggregate (1), the pump (2) and the oil reservoir (3) form a modular unit. A modular unit is assigned to at least two wheels of a car.
