<p>A controller of a passenger conveyor comprising passenger sensors (4) provided preferably on both left and right handrails and adapted to monitor separately whether or not any passenger is present in either of first zones (41) on both entrance and exit sides including the floor plates (5) of the entrance and exit of the passenger conveyor and whether or not any passenger is present in either of second zones (42) outside adjacent to the first zones on both the entrance and exit sides and a mode changing circuit (7) for changing the operation mode of a controller main body (8), when the controller main body (8) is in a waiting mode in which the passenger conveyor is stopped and is waiting, to an intermediate mode when a passenger is detected in either of the second zones, and when the controller main body (8) is in the intermediate mode, to a conveying mode in which the passenger conveyor is operating to convey passengers when a passenger is present in the first zone on the entrance side, or to a warning mode in which it is reported that the direction of conveyance is opposite when a passenger is detected in the first zone on the exit side.</p> |
